Coffee Grinders & Accessories
Great coffee starts with a fresh grind. Hario hand grinders, filter papers and the handy extras that make brewing at home a joy.
How to choose a coffee grinder
Grinding your beans just before brewing is one of the easiest ways to get more flavour from your coffee. Here's how to pick the right grinder, and the extras worth adding.
-
Hand grinders
Burr hand grinders give an even, adjustable grind and work without power. Quiet and compact, they're ideal for pour over, AeroPress or a cafetière.
-
Electric blade grinders
Quick and convenient, blade grinders chop beans in seconds. Grind in short bursts and give it a shake between pulses for a more even result.
-
Brewing accessories
Finish your setup with a milk frother for lattes, a moka pot for stovetop coffee or a cold brew pitcher for iced coffee at home.
Grinder questions, answered
Burr or blade: what's the difference?
Burr grinders crush beans between two surfaces to a set size, giving a consistent grind. Blade grinders chop beans with a spinning blade; they're quick and affordable, but the grind is less even.
What grind size do I need?
Go coarse for a cafetière, medium for filter machines and pour over, and fine for espresso machines and moka pots. If your coffee tastes bitter, try a coarser grind; if it tastes sour or weak, go finer.
How much should I grind at once?
Grind only what you need for each brew. Ground coffee loses its aroma quickly, so freshly ground beans give you the most flavour.
How do I clean my grinder?
Brush out leftover grounds regularly and wipe the outside with a dry cloth. Avoid washing burrs or blades unless the instructions say so, and make sure everything is completely dry before use.
